Utah NENA is dedicated to supporting the professional growth and development of public safety telecommunications professionals here in Utah. The mission of our Guardian Voices Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to individuals pursuing education, training, and certification opportunities that enhance their skills and advance the 9-1-1 industry. By investing in the workforce, the program aims to empower emergency communications personnel, foster leadership, and ensure the highest standards of service for communities across the state. Through the Guardian Voices Scholarship, Utah NENA is committed to recognizing and uplifting the voices of those who serve on the front lines of public safety.

Scholarship Details
This scholarship will include a full conference registration ($700 value) for the NENA Annual Conference & EXPO. Lodging, per diem and travel arrangements to and from the event will be the responsibility of the dispatcher and/or their employer.
Responsibilities of Recipient
Scholarship recipients must attend the full conference, barring illness or unforeseen emergencies. In the event that an applicant is unable to attend the conference, funds must be returned to Utah NENA, who will award the scholarship to a runner up applicant, providing that time permits. Scholarships are not transferrable.

- To assist public safety professionals in reaching a higher level of knowledge by participating in NENA’s Annual Conference.
- To assist public safety agencies with the cost of professional development and contribute to their ability to provide continuing education to their employees.
- To enhance the knowledge of public safety dispatch employees so that they, in turn, will contribute to their agency and the profession.
- To assist in the goal of "One Nation-One Number" by providing education to those individuals who have not attended an annual conference.
- To assist Utah’s public safety professionals in pursuing their passion to make their communities a safer place.
Criteria
- Cannot have previously attended a NENA Annual Conference.
- Must be employed by a Utah Emergency Communications Center. This employment may be on a reserve or part-time basis, but preference will be given to full-time dispatchers first. The applicant must be in good standing with that agency.
- Must be a current NENA member or become one and submit proof of membership with your application. (This can be done after being awarded the scholarship.)

- Complete and submit the application by the application deadline.
- Complete a letter of interest explaining your reason for applying for this scholarship, your expectations of attending the conference and how it will benefit you and your agency in the future of 9-1-1. This write-up should also express your commitment to public safety, leadership skills, and any other general comments about your current or future plans with the 9-1-1 profession.
- A letter of support from your supervisor is desired, but not required. This helps us award individuals who are more likely to guarantee their attendance.
- Please submit letter of interest, application form & any other supporting documentation together.
