Wellness Conference Scholarship

Congratulations to our 2025 Scholarship Recipients!
Kelsi Townsend - Metro Emergency Communications
Brett Albiston - Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center

2024 WINNERS
Rachel Saling - DPS Richfield Communications
Hollie Zilles - Logan City Police Department
Rebekah Hepner - Logan City Police Department

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors we will be offering a scholarship for attendance to the 2025 Utah NENA Wellness Conference!

Criteria
Must be employed by a Communications Center.  This employment may be on a reserve or part-time basis, but preference will be given to full-time dispatchers first. The applicant must be in good standing with that agency.  This is not exclusive to those working in PSAPs, and includes university/campus police, air ambulance services, etc.  Preference will be given to dispatchers in the State of Utah first.

Scholarship Details

This scholarship will include the following:
  • Full conference registration to the Utah NENA Wellness Conference in St. George, held March 19-20, 2025.
  • 2 nights lodging at the host resort.
  • 1-year telecommunicator membership to NENA.
  • 50% off registration for a second attendee from the same agency as the winner.
Per diem, and any other associated costs, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the attendee and/or their agency. As mentioned above, in addition to this scholarship, we are offering a second registration at 50% off to the agency at which the winner is employed. All other Lodging, Per Diem, and other associated costs for the second attendee will be the responsibility of the attendee and/or their agency.  If the winner is already a member of NENA, that individual can choose to receive the value of membership as cash for additional travel costs, OR may gift a membership to the colleague of their choice.

Responsibilities of Recipient
Scholarship recipients must attend the conference, barring illness or unforeseen emergencies.  If an applicant is unable to attend the conference, funds must be returned to Utah NENA, and we will award the scholarship to a runner-up applicant, providing that time permits.  Scholarships are not transferable.

Procedure
  • Complete and submit the application by the deadline.
  • In your application, explain your reason for applying for this scholarship, your expectations of attending the conference, and how it will benefit you and your agency in the future of telecommunicator wellness. This write-up should also express your commitment to public safety, leadership skills, and any other general comments about your current or future plans with the 9-1-1 profession.
  • A letter of support from your supervisor is desired, but not required. This helps us award individuals who are more likely to guarantee their attendance.
  • Must be completed by March 5, 2025. Late applications will not be reviewed.
